Stinger season

In this area, the wet summer is also the cycklone season, the humid season and the stinger season.  Any snorkelling or diving must be done while wearing a lycra suirt or wetsuit.  There are different kinds of jelly fish (or stingers) but the most lethal is the irukanji.  Port Douglas beach along with most of the the other beaches around here erect stinger nets during the stinger season.

  1. Hi, i've visited here before but your last post was still in February. Your photos are really very familiar with us here in the Philippines. But of course you have better conditions there because your climate is colder. As my Australian friend tells us when he comes over, Cairns is the hybrid of the Philippines and Sydney. That is because i have just been to NSW and travelled from Sydney to Coffs Harbour. Hope you will visit my site too, we have almost the same vegetation. thanks.
