Wyanbeel valley

What a wonderful walk we had this weekend. The road is labelled "scenic walk to Karnak Theatre". Karnak is the outdoor theatre owned by Dianne Cilento who used to be married to Sean Connery. Our claim to fame in this little community! On the drive before we stopped for our walk we discovered that this area is littered with smallholdings growing tropical flowers and fruit.
The first part of the walk is climbing a rather steep hill leading up to a road that is draped by lovely trees on both sides. Shady and cool (comparitively speaking) the walking is very comfortable on a dirt road. A creek runs alongside the road, and sometimes you will catch a glimpse of it meandering along beside you. Huge groves of bamboo filter the sunlight, casting lovely shadows. You walk up the hill and then slowly down the other side arriving at High falls Farm where there is a small restuarant, with limited opening hours. They grow lots of tropical fruit on this farm, and it is a very lovely spot to sit alongside the creek, if you happen to catch them open. Stop for a Kodak moment on the "bridge", and as the road goes over the creek watch out for the concrete croc - it is pretty realistic! At this stage you can join the main road and walk back on the tar road back to the car, or turn around and do the dirt road again. It was quite hot and uninteresting on the road, so doing it again, I would opt for the dirt road return. Either way the whole walk will take about an hour at the most, with stops for photos.
